Clients go for counseling for many different reasons, a few of the things that you may wish to address are:

  • Uncomfortable symptoms of stress and anxiety

  • Improvement of marital and family relationships

  • Communication skills

  • Parenting challenges

  • Implementing boundaries with extended family

  • Blending families

  • Living with a spouse with an addiction

We won’t just talk about these things, I will show you specific skills to treat the things that are causing you distress.

Life is full of unplanned and unwanted events. Each of us brings a unique set of strengths and resources to get us through those tough times. Sometimes, they can become undermined or overwhelmed by self-doubt, anger, sadness or anxiety. Psychotherapy can be beneficial to helping you through.

I can help:

  • Reduce feelings of self -doubt and anxiety
  • Increase trust, openness and honesty in relationships
  • Strengthen couple and family relationships
  • Improve problem solving
Couples / Relationships

Blending Families

The rate of divorce and remarriage for nuclear families is alarmingly high and the divorce rate for second marriages is even higher. One reason is that so few couples understand the complexities of blending a family. I will help you understand the new family structure and give you the skills to manage it with less conflict and misunderstanding.

I can help:

  • Couples learn how to manage expectations of a blended family
  • Couples understand the intricacies of managing discipline with step-children and boundaries with ex-spouses
  • Couples extricate themselves from being in the middle between children and current spouse
Parenting Strategies

Parenting Strategies

Sometimes parents are frustrated, in distress, and really just need answers. When there is an immediate need, parenting consultation focuses on constructing a plan to change current patterns. After everyone feels some relief, we then work together on the origins of the behavior.

I can help:

  • Parents to agree on discipline techniques and set an achievable plan
  • Parents to set realistic expectations and consequences
  • Parents to manage their children’s anxiety
